How to read and build a monthly calendar
Create an accessible month grid with correct weekday alignment.
Choose the first weekday
Calendars commonly begin on Sunday or Monday. Label the choice and place the month's first date under its actual weekday.
Include adjacent dates carefully
Dates from neighboring months can complete the grid, but they should be visually and programmatically distinguished from current-month dates.
Accessibility and printing
Use real text, logical reading order and sufficient contrast. Printed calendars need space for notes and a title containing both month and year.
