How much of the current month has passed?
Calculate a live percentage for the current calendar month.
The precise formula
Subtract the start of the month from the current instant, then divide by the duration from that start to the start of the next month. Multiply by 100 for a percentage.
Why month length matters
The denominator may be 28, 29, 30 or 31 days. Date boundaries automatically handle February and changes from December into January.
Local time and UTC
A personal progress clock should normally use local time. Shared reports may use UTC or a named business zone; disclose the choice.
